While your luxury suite at Simbavati Waterside serves as your home throughout your stay, a unique night at the sleepout deck is recommended for the adventurous at heart, and an ideal option for those guests enjoying a three-night stay or longer.

The Sleepout Experience
Illuminated by solar lanterns, the Shilope Sleepout Deck welcomes you with a king-sized bed and a top-level lookout deck, setting the stage for a night of romance and complete immersion in the bush. Elevated above the ground, this unique experience allows you to see the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve and its wildlife from an entirely different perspective. Fall asleep to the mesmerising nocturnal sounds of the bush beneath you, only to awaken to birdsong and the warm, golden glow of sunrise. The sleepout deck is equipped with an en-suite shower and toilet, complete with hot, running water, ensuring the optimal experience.

Shortly before sunset, instead of the typical safari drive, your guide will escort you to the sleepout deck. Here, you’ll be briefed on how to use the two-way radio, should you wish to contact the lodge at any time. Your private and tranquil wilderness abode awaits, complete with canapés and a picnic-style dinner, paired with your drinks of choice, all set up for you to enjoy at your own pace. The sunset is truly one of the highlights of this experience, painting the sky with beauty and intensifying the awe-inspiring views from your relaxed vantage point.

An Enchanting Night Under the Stars
Another highlight of a stay at the sleepout deck is the enchanting stargazing opportunity. A blanket of stars adorns the night sky and a symphony of nocturnal bush sounds will serenade you to sleep, providing a harmonious blend of tranquility and adventure. It’s important to note that while stargazing and relaxation can be enjoyed on the top deck, guests are required to sleep inside, on the middle level of the deck, for a safe and comfortable night’s rest. Safety is our top priority, given our location in the Big 5 wilderness.

As the sun graces the horizon the following morning, you’ll have the privilege of savouring the moment from the comfort of your bed, coffee or tea in hand, and hand-made rusks available for your enjoyment.
