Fynbos on Sea
OVERVIEW
This eco- paradise awaits…
Perched above the charming town of Sedgefield, along South Africa’s iconic Garden Route, Fynbos on Sea is an eco-paradise offering breathtaking views of beaches, mountains, lagoons, and a vibrant fynbos wonderland.
Our lodge features nine beautifully appointed rooms and a private, self-contained cottage, nestled high on the dunes overlooking the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean. Surrounded by a 600-hectare pristine fynbos reserve, the estate is home to abundant plains game such as eland, zebra, bushbuck, and waterbuck.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature, where the stunning scenery will rejuvenate both mind and soul. Sedgefield, symbolized by a tortoise, embodies the joy of ‘slow travel.’ Wander along our scenic nature trails, relax and watch the clouds drift by, or simply sit quietly with binoculars in hand for a closer look at the surrounding beauty. Delight in a picnic or sip sundowners while gazing out over Gerickes Point.
Just beyond our property, discover the natural wonders of fossil dunes and secluded beaches. Kayak on the serene waters of the Swartvlei and Sedgefield lagoons, or visit the neighboring protea farm. In summer, snorkeling in the rock pools at low tide reveals a colorful underwater world. For those seeking a bit more adventure, this region is renowned for its exhilarating paragliding opportunities. Whether it’s the invigorating sunrises or the romantic sunsets, every moment at Fynbos on Sea promises to be unforgettable.

Top Reasons to Visit
setting
Spectacular Setting
The setting is unexpected and truly spectacular. The town of Sedgefield lies far below in adjacent to the lake. But Fynbos is up on a headland above the town.
To the north of the lodge are the Outeniqua Mountains with the lakes that the Garden Route is known for shimmering with light below you. To the east and south of the lodge lies the Indian Ocean with a lovely view of the sandy Goukamma Beach and the endless rolling waves. And to the west lies the natural fynbos of this verdant area, which is particularly rewarding in the spring and early summer months.
Everywhere you look there are views to enjoy.
Adventurous and Memorable Experiences
Enjoy Nature
There is an array of activities and excursions to enjoy from the exhilarating to the leisurely. These take place both on the estate or nearby.
On the estate, enjoy guided or self-guided walking, fynbos nature drives and visits to the protea farm. And, of course, sundowners at unique locations.
Our activity centre also opens the door to activities on the lakes and rivers with canoeing, kayaking and boating. Finally Fynbos on Sea offers one of the best paragliding settings on the whole of the Garden Route.
